Palak Chutney / Spinach Chutney

Palak Chutney is yet another vegetable based chutney that can be enjoyed with Dosa/Idli or Chapati. This is easy and spicy -a non coconut based chutney.



 Ingredients:

Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard
  • 1 tsp Chana dal
  • 1 tsp Urad dal
  • Few Curry leaves
  • Hing-pinch
  • 1 tbsp Oil

Method: Roast the peanuts and keep it aside. Next blanch spinach. Roast the peanuts, chilies well. Next grind blanched palak with peanuts, tamarind paste into chutney. Season with mustard seeds, hing, chana dal, urad dal and curry leaves. Add salt and mix. Enjoy Palak Chutney with dosa, idlis or Indian Breads.

Palak Poori / Spinach Poori

Palak Poori is an easy recipe to include healthy greens in your diet. Palak or spinach is a green leafy vegetable that is loaded with iron and vitamins and proteins. Perfect for adults and kids alike. Serve hot with ketchup, chutney or sabzi of your choice. Ideal lunch box recipe! Spinach is an important immunity booster vegetable.


Palak Poori / Spinach Poori 
Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Palak [Boiled]
  • 1/4 cup chickpea flour[Besan]
  • 1 cup Wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon ajwain
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mango powder
  • salt to taste
  •  oil
  • Water

Method: Clean the palak well. Chop only the leaves finely. Next in a pan add water and a bit of salt. Add the washed palak leaves and let it boil for 10-15 mins. Once done, let it cool, discard the water and blend it in the mixer. In a bowl, add wheat flour, besan, masala powder, salt and the blanched palak leaves and mix well to make a soft dough. Add water if req. Make puris and deep fry them in hot oil. The puris will be in green color! Serve Palak Poori hot with sabzi of your choice.

Spinach Sandwich

Spinach Sandwich is simple and easy to make. Enjoy as a quick snack or send it as school lunch. An easy way of adding greens to your diet. Spinach or Palak provides healthy nutrients and is rich in iron, vitamins and minerals. It is very important for overall health including skin, hair etc. It is one of the immunity booster foods.


Ingredients
    Spinach Sandwich
    Spinach Sandwich
    • 1 cup chopped spinach 
    • 1 tsp Sandwich masala 
    • 1/2 tsp pepper pwd
    • 1-2 chilies (opt)
    • 1/2 tsp oil
    • 8 Bread slices 
    • Butter
    • Grated cheese
    • Salt
    • Green Chutney
    • Ketchup
      Method: 

      In a kadai, heat oil, add palak leaves and stir fry well, once done add salt pepper pwd  and mix well. Take bread, apply butter and  green chutney, add the palak mix, add some sandwich masala, add cheese, cover with another chutney-butter spread bread. Grill in toaster. Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.

      Palak Poha Cutlet

      Palak Poha Cutlet is easy snack for kids or elders, smart way of including greens in your  diet.  You can make from leftover Poha or use fresh soaked ones.  A delightful fusion of crisp, golden cutlets with the goodness of spinach (palak) and poha (flattened rice), these cutlets are packed with nutrients and bursting with flavor. These are light and satisfying—making them ideal for any time of the day.

      Prep time:  15 mins

      Cook time: 15 mins

      Total time: 30 mins

      Servings: 8 tikkis

      Ingredients:

      • 2-Potatoes boiled and mashed
        Spinach cutlet
        Palak Poha Cutlet

      • Salt as per taste
      • 1 tsp pepper pwd
      • 1 cup Poha (leftover) 
      • 1 cup washed and blanched palak 
      • 1-2 finely chopped green chilies
      • 1/4 tsp garam masala
      • 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
      • 1/2 tsp dhania jeera pwd
      • Lemon juice
      • Oil for shallow-frying.
      • Bread Crumbs for coating.

      Method: 

      Chop the palak leaves and add the masala pwd and salt and mix it well add mashed potatoes, soaked poha, pepper pwd, green chilies, lemon juice and mix well. Take small portion of mix, flatten it, pat it well. Roll it on the bread crumbs. 
      In a kadai, add oil and place the cutlet shallow fry till golden brown on low heat.
      Flip on the other side slowly. 

      Once done serve Palak Poha Cutlet hot with ketchup or chutney.

          Spinach Dosa / Palak Dosa

          Spinach Dosa / Palak Dosa is a healthy, nutritious and filling breakfast. This is a spicy version. Easy to make and enjoyed hot.  A mix of dosa batter with goodness of spinach to give the perfect flavoured, crispy and spicy crepes.

           
          Ingredients:
          • Dosa batter 
          • Salt as per taste
          • Oil
          • Jeera-1 tsp

          To Grind
          • Green chilies-3-4
          • Coconut-2 tbsp
          • Tamarind juice - 1 tbsp
          • Fresh Coriander leaves-1/4 cup
          • Spinach-1 cup
          • (washed and blanched)



          Method: 

          To begin with grind in mixer the items mentioned in grinding with little water.  Add to the dosa batter. Add salt, jeera. Mix well. Make dosas. Serve Spinach Dosa / Palak Dosa hot with butter or ghee.

          (the dosa is spicy and can be enjoyed like that only ) however you can still enjoy with Chutney powder or chutney also.

          Reduce the spice and salt as per your taste and preferences.

          Spinach Paddu

          Spinach Paddu or Appe or Paniyaram is a yummy recipe made from left over Dosa-Idli Batter using the Paddu tava. An easy and delicious, gluten-free breakfast or snack recipe. 


          A perfect bite-sized burst of flavor with goodness of Spinach that's both healthy and delicious.


          Palak or spinach is a green leafy vegetable that is loaded with iron and vitamins and proteins. Perfect for adults and kids alike.  


          Lets see how to make Spinach Paddu

          Course Breakfast/Snack 


          Spinach paddu
          Spinach Paddu 


          Prep Time 10 min

          Cook Time 15 min

          Total Time 25 min

          Servings 4


        1. Ingredients


        2. Dosa Batter-2.5 cup
        3. Salt as per taste
        4. Few Coriander leaves
        5. Green chillies-2-4 chopped
        6. Spinach puree
        7. Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
        8. Oil as required for making paddu


        9. Method:  

          Wash and chop the palak leaves. Next steam in water for 5-10 mins. Drain the water and grind the palak in mixer. Next add all the above ingredients in the dosa batter and mix well. 



          Next apply oil to the paddu tava and pour the batter in the holes of tava and keep it on low flame. Cover. Once done turn it over and cook the other side. 


          Serve Spinach / Palak Paddu hot with chutney or sauce or enjoy just like that.

          • Ingredients:
          • 1/2 spinach finely chopped
          • 1 Potato boiled and mashed
          • 1 cup Bread Crumbs
          • 2-4 Green Chilies
          • 1 tsp chaat masala
          • 2 tsp garam masala
          • 1 tbsp Lime Juice
          • 1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
          • Salt as per taste
          • 1/2 cup Coriander Leaves
          • Oil for shallow fry
          Method: Add finely chopped spinach mashed potatoes ,ginger garlic paste,chaat masala,garam masala powder and mix well  along with few coriander leaves, chili and chat masala.Next add bread crumbs and mix. Flatten them into desired shape.You can roll over on chiroti rava or bread crumbs.Heat tava,frying pan shallow fry  until golden brown and crisp,keep flipping over.Serve with chutney or ketchup.

          You can add bread pieces to bind it well.

          Palak Pakoda /Spinach Pakora

          Spinach Pakora or Palak Pakoda is yummy and tasty. Pakora is a favorite Indian starter/appetizer. Enjoy this healthy spinach version with hot cup of tea.

          Ingredients

          Spinach Crisps
          Spinach Pakora

          • 1 fresh Palak(spinach)-finely chopped
          • 1 cup Gram Flour(Besan)
          • 1 tbsp Rice flour
          • 1 Onion(chopped)
          • 3-4 Green Chilly
          • 1-2 tsp Red Chilly Pwd
          • Salt to taste
          • 1 tsp cumin seeds
          • few-coriander leaves
          • Water
          • Oil for frying



          Method 
          Mix all the ingredients with little water to form the  dough. Add 1 tsp heated oil to the dough and mix well. Heat oil, make pakora. Fry it till turns golden brown.
          Drain the oil and serve Palak Pakoda hot with ketchup or chutney of your choice.
