Onion Jhunka or zunka is an easy side dish for Bhakri / chapati or rice. This is a delicous and traditional Maharashtrian dish in dry version. Onion is blended with besan and spices making it tasty and delicious.
Ingredients
Seasoning
- Oil 2 Tsp
- Mustard seeds 1 Tsp
- Jeera/ Cumin seeds 1 Tsp
- Hing-Pinch
- Green Chillies 1
Method
Heat oil for in a frying pan over moderate heat. Add items mentioned in seasoning. Once done add onions and sauté for 1 - 2 min. Add roasted gram flour, coriander powder, chili pwd and salt in a bowl and add to the onions. Keep adding water little by little and stir. Fry over low heat for 10 minutes till the besan and onion blends well with no lumps. Serve Zunka hot with chapati / Bhakri or rasam rice.
