Papdi Chaat or पापड़ी चाट is a popular Indian street food snack that combines various flavors and textures in a delightful way. Enjoy as evening snack.
Ingredients:
For Papdi:
1 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
Papdi Chaat 1/4 cup semolina (sooji)
1/4 teaspoon salt
Water (to knead the dough)
Oil (for frying)
For Assembling:
1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
1/2 cup boiled chickpeas
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
2 tbsp mint chutney
2 tbsp sweet tamarind chutney
1/2 tsp Chaat masala
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp Red chili powder
Salt to taste
Sev for garnish
Pomegranate seeds for garnish
Method:
For Papdi:
In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, semolina, and salt.
Gradually add water and knead the mixture into a stiff dough.
Cover the dough and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes.
Divide the dough into small portions and roll each portion into a small disc (papdi). Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the papdis until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove the papdis from the oil and let it cool.
Assembling Papdi Chaat:
Crush the papdis on a serving bowl. Next add the boiled and mashed potatoes, chickpeas, chopped onions, and tomatoes. Drizzle mint chutney and sweet tamarind chutney over the papdis.
Sprinkle chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt to taste. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves, pomegranate seeds and sev.
Serve homemade Papdi Chaat immediately.
