A good coconut chutney can make even a simple breakfast feel special. This version is creamy, mildly spicy, fresh and wonderfully aromatic, with the right balance of coconut, chillies and seasoning. It comes together quickly and tastes just as comforting alongside idli, dosa, or chapati.
- 1 cup fresh/frozen coconut
- 6 -7 green chilies (chopped)
- White dal-2 tbsp (puttani/hurigadle)
- Peanuts-2 tbsp (roasted)
- Chana Dal- 2 tsp ( roasted)
- Coriander Leaves-few
- Tamarind paste 1/4 tsp
- ginger- small piece
- Salt
Method:
Grind all above items with minimum amount of water.
Season with mustard seeds, urad dal, hing, curry leaves.
Serve with Coconut Chutney hot chapatis, dosa, idlis
You can make this version thick with less water, or add water to the chutney if you want it liquidy.
