Amla Poha

Amla Avalakki or Nellikayi Avalakki is spicy and quick breakfast recipe. Poha (Oggarane Avalakki ) is easy to cook, adding vegetables to it makes it more nutritious and tasty. Made with wholesome poha and the refreshing tang of amla (Indian gooseberry), this easy recipe adds a nutritious twist to a classic Indian favorite. It comes together in just a few simple steps, making it perfect for busy mornings when you want something light, delicious, and satisfying.

Amla Poha
 Ingredients:

1 cup poha ((flaked rice /avalakki)
1 capsicum (finely chopped) (opt)
5-6 green chillies, finely chopped
3-4  tbsp. grated raw mango shreds
Salt to taste

For Seasoning:
1 tbsp. oil
1/2 tsp. mustard
1/2 tsp.Jeera/cumin seeds
1 tsp chana dal
1 tsp. Urad dal
2 tsp. peanuts
Hing- a pinch
Curry leaves-few
Turmeric pwd-pinch

For Garnishing

1 tbsp grated fresh coconut
Few coriander leaves


Method: Soak the poha in water for 5-10min. 
Wash  and drain the water completely.
Heat the oil in the pan, fry the peanuts and keep it aside .
Next add seasonings and fry till done.
Add green chillies and capsicum and stir fry.
Once done add the poha and mix well.
Add salt, coconut ,Amla shreds, peanuts and coriander leaves to the poha.
Mix well  and serve hot.

Pudi Chitranna II

Pudi Chitranna is a tangy rice—a simple pot meal. It gets its taste from the amla and spices.

This is a very simple one with the goodness of Amla or Nellikai (gooseberry) in Kannada. Amla is an immunity booster and is loaded with vitamins and nutrients and can be included in your diet regime.

Pudi Chitranna II
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup rice (cooked)
  • 1/4 cup fresh coconut (grated)
  • Salt to taste
To Grind:
  • Chana dal – 2 tsp
  • Urad dal – 2 tsp
  • Dhania / Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
  • Methi / Fenugreek seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Jeera / Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Red chillies – 5 to 6
Seasoning:
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp chana dal
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • 2 tbsp peanuts
  • A pinch of hing
  • Ground pudi – 1 to 2 tbsp
  • Red chilly – 1 (optional)
  • Few curry leaves
  • Few coriander leaves
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
Method:

Grate the gooseberry.

Dry roast all the items mentioned under To Grind. Once cool, grind into a coarse powder.

Next, heat oil in a kadai. Roast the peanuts and keep them aside. Add the remaining seasoning ingredients and roast well.

Once done, add the cooked rice to the seasoning. Add the grated gooseberry, prepared pudi masala, salt, coconut and roasted peanuts and mix well.

Sauté for 1–2 minutes. Serve Pudi Chitranna hot with Sandige.

Amla Murubba

‘Amla or Nellikayi as we all know is said to be a super fruit loaded with nutrients. It is immensely beneficial for our health, hair, and skin. It helps to build immunity and delays aging. You can make various recipes using Amla.

Here is Amla Murubba. A perfect dish for your kids to enjoy with chapati. Enjoy this khatta Meeta yummy and deliciously sweet Amla recipe. 
Amla Murubba


Ingredients


  • Amla grated-1 big cup
  • Sugar-1/2 cup
  • Water
  • Cardamom Pwd/Elachi- 1 tsp
  • Saffron- few strands


Method- Wash the amlas and grated it finely, discarding the seeds. Meanwhile dissolve sugar in water and make syrup. Keep it on low flame, stir in between. Add the grated amlas in this solution. Let it cook till the mix becomes thick.Add cardamom powder and saffron. 
Once cool, store it in glass jar.
Enjoy Amla Murubba with parathas rotis or bread.

Nellikai Chitranna / Gooseberry (amla) Rice

Nellikai Rice or Gooseberry (Amla) Rice, Nellikai Chitranna is tangy rice-a simple pot meal. It gets its taste from the alma and spices. (an exclusive recipe of my MIL)

Chitranna is a favorite South Indian Rice variety, you can make variety of chitranna and almost daily and it will be enjoyed by all.

This is a very simple one with goodness of Amla or Nellikai (gooseberry) in kannada. Amla is an immunity booster and is loaded with vitamins and nutrients and can be included in your diet regime.

Nellikai Chitranna / Gooseberry (amla ) Rice / sadam
Nellikai Rice

  • Ingredients
  1. Cooked Rice-1cup
  2. Gooseberry(Nellikai)-7-8
  3. Green Chillies – 5-6
  4. (finely chopped)
  5. Curry Leaves – few
  6. Oil – 2 tsp
  7. Mustard –1tsp
  8. Jeera-1tsp
  9. Hing-pinch
  10. Ground nuts-2 tbsp
  11. Urad dal – 1 tsp
  12. Chana dal-1tsp
  13. Salt-to taste
  14. Coconut-1 tbsp(opt)


    Method
    Grate gooseberry or cut it into small pieces and grind it coarsely. 
    Roast it in little oil. Allow the rice to cool, spread it on a plate. 
    Next heat oil in kadai, roast  peanuts and keep it aside, next add the other items in seasoning, roast well, once done add the rice to this seasoning. 
    Add the grated gooseberry, salt, coconut and peanuts and mix well.
    Saute for 1-2 mins. Serve Nellikai Chitranna hot with Sandige.
