Blissful Bhoga Nandishwara temple is a 9th century architectural masterpiece that is located at the foothills of Nandi Hills. It is an ideal location for a weekend drive from Bangalore. It is just around 54kms from Bangalore. We visited this temple recently. It is calm and serene with a lot of greenery around. The temple dates back to the 9th century and is an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)-protected monument. The main deity is Lord Shiva. There are temples of other deities like Arunachaleswara, Uma Maheshwara with Lord Shiva. The pillars are covered in exquisite carvings of gods, animals, puranic characters, sages, and scenes from ancient Hindu mythology.
The Nandi Idol in front of the Sanctum in this temple is awesome!
The other portion of the temple houses a large indoor water pond, with rock steps around the pond. The breathtakingly beautiful mandapa, the artistic carvings on the pillars and the ceilings, the exotic designs, and the ambiance of the temple makes the place worth a visit!
How to reach: Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple is around 54km from Bengaluru and is just about 15km at the base of Nandi Hills.
