Aloo Simla Mirch Peanut masala

Aloo Simla Mirch Peanut masala is a delicious combination for Indian breads. It can be made in variety of ways. This is made by blending aloo and simla mirch in roasted peanut masala powder.

Ingredients

1 potatoes (boiled and diced)
2 capsicums 
1/2 tsp cumin seed 
1/2 tsp mustard
1/2 tsp chana dal
1/2 tsp urad dal
Hing pinch
1/2 tsp red chili powder 
1 tsp turmeric powder 
1/2 tsp dhania jeera powder 
1 tsp Bhath powder
2 tsp Peanut powder
few coriander leaves (finely chopped) 
1-2 tbsp Oil
Salt 
  • Method-
  • Roast peanut well in a kadai.Ground it in the mixer and keep it aside.(You can also add red chillies along with it)
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin and mustard, chana dal,urad dal ,hing, and fry till done ,add capsicum and sauté for some time. Next add diced potatoes ,the masala pwd ,salt and mix well. Garnish  with coriander leaves and serve Aloo Simla Mirch Peanut masala hot with naan or roti.

ChowChow Poha / Seemebadnekayi Avalakki

ChowChow Poha  or Seemebadnekayi Avalakki is spicy and quick breakfast recipe.Poha (Oggarane Avalakki ) is easy to cook, adding vegetables to it makes it more nutritious and tasty. This one is with humble ChowChow or Chayote has a unique taste which makes the avalakki delicious.

Seemebadnekayi Avalakki 



Ingredients:


  • 1 cup poha ((flaked rice /avalakki)
  • 1 cup Chow Chow finely chopped)
  • 1/2 cup onion finely chopped
  • 3-4  green chillies, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste

For Seasoning:


  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 1/2 tsp. mustard
  • 1/2 tsp.cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp chana dal
  • 1 tsp. Urad dal
  • 2 tsp. peanuts
  • Hing- a pinch
  • Curry leaves-few
  • Turmeric pwd-pinch

For Garnishing
2 tbsp. grated coconut
Few coriander leaves


Method: In a pan , Stir fry chow chow well in little oil keep it aside.
Soak the poha in water for 5-10min. Wash  and drain the water completely.
Heat the oil in the pan, fry the peanuts and keep it aside .
Next add seasonings and fry till done.
Add green chillies and onion and stir fry.
Once done add the poha and mix well.
Add salt, coconut ,peanuts ,stir fried chowchow
and coriander leaves to the poha.
Add lemon juice ,add bhath pwd and mix well . Serve hot.

Masala Sabudana

Masala Sabudana  or Spicy Sabudana Khichdi can be made as filling breakfast for a good start of your day. Absolutely delicious and tasty,try it out!!. An easy gluten free vegan delight! 

A blend of your favorite veggies with bhath powder into a delicious sabudana, making it perfect !


1 cup sabudana(sago) 
1-2 Green Chillies finely chopped
Few peanuts fried
1 boiled and peeled potato
1/4 cup capsicum 
1 chopped onion (exclude if fasting)
2 tsp Oil
1 tsp Jeera /Cumin seeds
1 Pinch Hing (asafoetida) 
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp chana dal
1/2 tsp urad dal
2 tbsp Bhath pwd 
1 tsp Lemon juice 
Salt to taste 
Coriander leaves-few
Curry Leaves-few


Method
  • Wash the sabudana in water 2 -3 times. and soak it in water for about 3-4 hours in water and use it when they become soft and double in volume.
  • Heat the oil/ghee in a pan fry peanuts and keep it aside,next add cumin seeds,mustard seeds,chana dal urad dal and hing. Once done add the green chillies and curry leaves.
  • Add the chopped potatoes and onion,capsicum and stir well. Let them cook till they are light brown on the outside. Add sabudana mixture and mix gently. Let it cook for 10 - 15 mins .
  • Then add fried peanuts,salt and Bhath pwd .Mix well.
  • Add the grated coconut  (opt) and garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Sprinkle some lemon juice over it and serve hot.

Masala Karela fry

Masala Karela fry is a simple ,spicy vegetable side dish for Chapati or Rasam Rice.Karela or Bitter gourd has its distinct bitter taste but once blended with groundnut  powder and spices , it tastes awesome.Enjoy!

                   Masala Karela fry 


Ingredients:


  • Bitter Gourd-3-4 (sliced)
  • Bhath Pwd-2 tsp
  • Sambhar pwd-1 tsp
  • Groundnut powder-1-2tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 2-3 tbsp


For Seasoning:


  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 1/2 tsp. mustard
  • 1/2 tsp.cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp chana dal
  • 1 tsp. Urad dal
  • Hing- a pinch
  • Curry leaves-few
  • Turmeric pwd-pinch


Method:
Roast groundnuts on low heat and grind it into powder. Keep it aside. Slice the bitter gourd in to thin slices. In a pan  add oil and roast the karela well. Next add bhath and sambhar powder, groundnut powder,salt and mix well. Fry till it becomes crip. Heat oil in a pan and prepare seasoning add it to the karelas. Enjoy Masala Karela fry with hot rasam rice or chapati.

(You can remove the seeds)

Gorikayi Aloo Masala Bhath / ClusterBeans Aloo Masala Rice

Gorikayi Aloo Masala Bhath / ClusterBeans Aloo Masala Rice is spicy rice variety An easy one pot meal made with gavar/cluster beans with roasted potatoes and homemade bhath masala powder.Nutritious and healthy.

Ingredients: 

Gorikayi Aloo Masale Bhath
Gorikayi Aloo Masala Bhath / ClusterBeans Aloo Masala Rice
  • 1 cup Cooked Rice 
  • 1/2 cup chopped gorikayi (gavar/clusterbeans)
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced potatoes
  • salt as per taste
  • Dry coconut-2 tsp


Seasoning


  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard(sasive)
  • 1/2 tsp chana dal
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal
  • 2-3 tbsp Bhath Masala pwd
  • 5-6 Curry leaves
  • Turmeric pwd-pinch
  • Hing-pinch




Method: Cook rice and Allow the rice to cool,spread it on a plate.Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard seeds,turmeric, curry leaves ,hing,chana dal,urad dal.Once done add chopped gorikayi and potatoes to the above seasoning. Saute frequently till done.Next add salt and masala powder. Mix well.Add the cooked rice .Mix well.Cover and cook on low heat.Granish with dry coconut.Serve hot.



(you can add MTR Vangi Bhath pwd also)

Ingredients
  • Amaranth leaves / Dantina soppu– 1 cup
    hesarukalu dantina soppu sambar huli

      Heserukalu Soppu Huli 

  • ( cleaned and chopped)
  • Green Moong-1/2 cup (cooked)
  • Toor dal-1/2 cup (cooked)
  • Sambar Pwd-2 tbsp 
  • Coconut-1/2 cup
  • Tamarind paste-1 tsp
  • Salt-for taste

  • Seasonings
  • Oil-1-2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
  • Hing-pinch
  • Cury leaves-few
  • Turmeric pwd-pinch
  • Red chillies-1-2 (opt)

Method-  Pressure cook Toor dal and green moong well. Cook greens in water for 10-15 mins.

Grind coconut and sambar powder and keep it aside.Next in a vessel,mix the dal,kadlekalu and soppu ,add tamarind paste, salt and the ground paste ,and mix well.Let it boil well for 10 mins,simmer , prepare the seasoning.Add it to the sambar,mix. Serve Heserukaalu Soppu Huli hot with rice or chapati
with spoon of ghee.

Sihi Kumbalkayi Palya /Sweet Pumpkin Sabzi

Sihi Kumbalkayi ( ಸಿಹಿ ಕುಂಬಳಕಾಯಿ) (Sweet Pumpkin ) Aloo palya is a delicious combination prepared in-South Indian style with coconut and chillies.Simple and tasty.Enjoy with Chapati or rasam rice.Slightly sweet ,mildy spiced.Palya is kannada word for sabzi.



  • 2 Potatoes,(cut in big cubes)
  • 1 cup Sihi Kumbalkayi (cut in big cubes)
  • 1 tsp Mustard
  • 1/2 tsp chana dal
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal
  • Hing-pinch
  • ½ tsp Turmeric
  • 5-6 Green Chillies, chopped
  • Few Corianderleaves
  • Few Curry leaves
  • Grated coconut-2 tbsp
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • Salt to taste

Method: Heat Oil in pan,add mustard,chanadal,uraddal,hing,tumeric,curry leaves,chilies and fry for some time.Add potatoes and sweet pumpkin and fry well.Cover for 5-10 mins.Check if the veggies have turned soft , next add salt and mix well , fry for some time.Garnish with corainder leaves and coconut .Serve this pumpkin stir fry hot with rasam rice or enjoy with chapatis too.
